When the temperature climbs above 30°C in Biloela, a properly working air conditioner is more than a luxury. Whether you’re driving your car, truck or operating farming machinery, reliable air conditioning makes hot days considerably more comfortable. But if your air con is blowing warm, a simple “regas” may not be the answer. Read more - Toppin Up Fact Sheet by ArcTick Why Your Car Air Con Can't Just Be Regassed A vehicle air conditioning system is a sealed system containing refrigerant gas. If the refrigerant level is low, there is usually a reason – and that reason may be a leak.

At BMAS Biloela, the system should be pressure tested before it is regassed to check that it is properly sealed. Simply adding refrigerant to a leaking system can mean the gas escapes again, leaving you with warm air and another repair bill.

There are also environmental reasons why refrigerant handling needs to be taken seriously. Older vehicles may use R-134a, which has a global warming potential (GWP) of 1,430 and is being phased down globally. Most newer vehicles use R-1234yf, a lower-GWP refrigerant introduced widely into vehicles from around 2017. Finding Leaks Saves Time and Money Once the system has been tested, repaired and regassed, BMAS Biloela follows a useful diagnostic procedure by adding UV dye to the new refrigerant. If a leak develops later, the dye can help technicians identify the leakage point more quickly, potentially saving diagnostic time and unnecessary expense.

BMAS Biloela has ARCtick Authorisation to handle automotive refrigerants and can arrange the appropriate air conditioning service for your vehicle or machinery. Don't Wait Until You're Sweating A weak air conditioner may be caused by low refrigerant, a leak, condenser or evaporator problems, a faulty compressor, restricted airflow or an electrical issue. Continuing to operate with an unresolved fault can also place additional strain on other components.

Regular inspections are particularly worthwhile in Biloela's hot Queensland conditions. If your vehicle, truck or farming machinery isn't keeping you cool, have the system checked rather than simply asking for a regas. AC Regassing FAQs Does low refrigerant always mean my air con has a leak? Not necessarily, but refrigerant should not normally disappear from a properly sealed system. A pressure test can help determine whether there is a leak. Why can't you just add more refrigerant? If the system is leaking, the new refrigerant can escape again. Testing first identifies whether the system can safely retain its refrigerant. What is the difference between R-134a and R-1234yf? R-134a is an older refrigerant with a higher GWP. R-1234yf is the lower-GWP refrigerant now commonly used in newer vehicles. Why add dye to the air conditioning system? UV dye can make future leaks easier to locate, reducing diagnostic time when a refrigerant leak occurs. Can a faulty air conditioner affect anything else? Yes. Depending on the fault, problems can involve the compressor, condenser, electrical controls, cooling fans or airflow components. Does air conditioning need servicing even when it still feels cold? It can be worthwhile. Early inspection may identify refrigerant leaks or developing component problems before the system stops cooling effectively. New Car Service in Biloela

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At BMAS Biloela in Biloela, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At BMAS Biloela, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit BMAS Biloela for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.

The Simple Battery Check That Could Save Your Day Has your vehicle ever refused to start at the worst possible time? You're running late for work, the kids are waiting to be dropped off, or you're about to head out on a weekend away. You turn the key—or press the start button—and instead of hearing the engine come to life, all you get is a slow cranking sound... or worse, complete silence.

For many drivers, that moment comes without warning. But in reality, your battery has often been giving subtle clues that it's nearing the end of its life.

At BMAS Biloela in Biloela, we believe that a little preventative maintenance goes a long way. That's why we offer FREE battery testing, and why every vehicle that comes in for a service has its battery tested as part of our commitment to helping customers avoid inconvenient and costly breakdowns.

Whether you drive a family SUV, a work ute, a light commercial vehicle, a tractor or even a ride-on mower, having a healthy battery is one of the simplest ways to keep your vehicle reliable. What Does a Car Battery Actually Do? Most people know the battery starts the engine—but that's only part of the story.

Think of your battery as your vehicle's electrical storage tank. It stores electricity and supplies the large burst of power needed to start the engine.

Once the engine is running, the alternator (a generator driven by the engine) takes over, powering the vehicle's electrical systems while recharging the battery.

Modern vehicles rely on their batteries more than ever before.

In addition to starting the engine, today's battery helps power: Headlights Air conditioning controls Entertainment systems Navigation units Electric windows Safety systems Engine computers Keyless entry systems Stop-start technology (where fitted) Even when your vehicle is parked, many electronic systems continue drawing a small amount of power. Why Modern Batteries Work Harder Than Older Ones Years ago, a battery mainly had one job—start the engine.

Today's vehicles contain dozens of electronic control units constantly communicating with one another. Every sensor, computer and electronic feature depends on a healthy, stable power supply.

This means batteries are working much harder than they once did and often wear out sooner than many people expect.

Many batteries begin losing performance after around three years, particularly if the vehicle experiences frequent short trips, extreme temperatures or long periods without being driven. Why Batteries Eventually Fail Like any component, batteries naturally wear out over time.

Inside every battery are lead plates and electrolyte solution that create electricity through a chemical reaction. As the battery ages, these plates slowly deteriorate, reducing its ability to store and deliver power.

Several factors can speed up this ageing process, including: Queensland's hot summer temperatures Frequent short trips that don't fully recharge the battery Leaving lights or accessories on Long periods without driving Heavy electrical loads from modern accessories Corrosion around battery terminals Vibration on rough country roads Unfortunately, many batteries fail with very little warning. A battery rarely chooses a convenient time to fail. Regular testing can identify a weakening battery before it leaves you stranded. Why Free Battery Testing Makes Sense At BMAS Biloela, we don't believe customers should have to wait until their vehicle won't start.

Our FREE battery testing quickly measures: Battery health Available starting power Charging performance Overall condition Because batteries are tested during every scheduled service, we can monitor their condition over time and advise you if performance begins to decline.

That means you can plan a replacement at a convenient time instead of being caught out unexpectedly.

Preventative maintenance often saves far more than the cost of replacing a failed battery after it has already disrupted your day. Supplying the Right Battery for the Job Not every battery is the same.

Using the correct battery ensures your vehicle receives the starting power and electrical capacity it was designed for.

BMAS Biloela supplies and professionally installs Century Batteries, one of Australia's most recognised and trusted battery brands.

Century Batteries are engineered to suit Australian conditions and are backed by manufacturer warranties, giving you confidence and peace of mind.

We supply batteries for: Passenger vehicles SUVs 4WDs Light commercial vehicles Utes Vans Ride-on mowers Agricultural equipment Tractors Heavy vehicles Buses Marine and recreational applications And just about everything in between. Our team can recommend the correct battery based on your vehicle, how you use it and the manufacturer's specifications. Professional Installation Matters Fitting a battery isn't simply a matter of swapping one out for another.

Many modern vehicles require specialised procedures to ensure electronic systems continue operating correctly after installation.

Professional installation includes: Selecting the correct battery specification Safely disconnecting electrical systems Cleaning battery terminals Checking charging performance Confirming the alternator is working correctly Ensuring all electrical systems operate as intended This helps maximise battery life and reduces the chance of future electrical issues. Signs Your Battery May Need Attention Batteries often give subtle warning signs before they fail completely.

Watch out for: Slow engine cranking Clicking when turning the key Dashboard battery warning light Dim headlights Electrical accessories behaving strangely Stop-start system no longer operating Needing jump starts Battery older than three years While these symptoms don't always mean the battery is faulty, they are good reasons to have it tested. Why Queensland Conditions Can Be Tough on Batteries Many people think cold weather is the biggest enemy of batteries.

In reality, heat is often even more damaging.

The warmer climate around Biloela places additional stress on batteries by speeding up the chemical ageing process inside them.

Add in dusty roads, corrugated rural tracks, towing trailers, heavy workloads and holiday travel, and batteries can wear out faster than expected.

That's why regular battery testing is especially worthwhile for local drivers. Replacing a battery before it fails is almost always cheaper—and far less stressful—than waiting until your vehicle won't start. Looking After Your Battery Between Services There are several simple things you can do to help your battery last longer.

Try to: Drive long enough for the battery to fully recharge. Avoid leaving lights or accessories switched on. Keep battery terminals clean. Have batteries tested annually after they reach three years of age. If the vehicle isn't used regularly, consider using a battery maintainer. Book a battery check before a long holiday or towing trip. Regular servicing also allows your mechanic to check the charging system and identify problems before they become expensive repairs. Battery FAQs How long should a car battery last? Most batteries last around three to five years, although Queensland's heat, driving habits and vehicle usage can shorten their lifespan. Do I need to replace my battery every three years? Not necessarily. That's why regular testing is important. Some batteries last longer, while others deteriorate sooner depending on how they're used. Can a faulty battery damage other parts of my vehicle? A weak battery can place additional strain on the starting and charging systems, and unstable voltage may affect sensitive electronic components. What's included in a battery test? We check the battery's condition, available starting power and charging performance to determine whether it is operating as it should. Do you only supply batteries for cars? No. We supply and install Century Batteries for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, tractors, buses, agricultural equipment, ride-on mowers and many other applications. What happens to my old battery? We responsibly recycle used batteries through approved recycling programs, helping recover valuable materials while protecting the environment. Keep Your Vehicle Ready to Go A healthy battery is something most of us don't think about—until it lets us down.
